• • • is the second oldest of eleven children born to the late Reverend William Burkett and Mrs.

Myrtle Burkett in Saginaw, Michigan.  He was educated  in the school system ofBaldwin, Michigan and graduated from Baldwin High School.  He was baptized and attended the First Baptist Church of Woodland Park, Michigan,  where the late Reverend William Burkett was the Pastor.
In March ofl952, he entered the United States Army and served for a period ofthree years. verend
met and married the former Mary Alice McDowell  in 1955 to whom he remained  married for 46 years until the Lord called her home in April 2001.  Out of this union, eight children were born; two of whom have departed this life.  Reverend and Sis. Burkett were in the process of adopting three more children at the time of her demise.  In spite of the heaviness the loss of his loved ones has brought about, Pastor Burkett continues to give God the glory, honor and praise!  Ashley, Armani and Aloha Burkett have since joined the ranks of the Burkett siblings.

Jerusalem Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the Reverend William Folks.  Having been licensed, he sought to educate himself continuously  in the ministry of God's Word by meeting the requirements of several theological  institutes and entities such as; the Manhattan Bible Institute;  the New York Theological Seminary and Trinity College ofthe Bible Seminary.  In 1986, an honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree was bestowed upon him.  Over the span of time, he has served with the National Baptist Convention, USA; the Eastern Baptist Association where he currently holds a position on the Board ofManagement; the Brooklyn Evangelical Union where he has served as President and currently holds a position on the General Trustee Board; he is an active of the Metropolitan Ministers Conference in Brooklyn, New York, and Vicinity where he serves as the chairman of the Scholarship Fund.; He's  an active member of the Corona-East  Elmhurst Clergy Association where he has served as Vice President;  and he serves on the Board of Executives with the Hampton University Ministers Conference.   Reverend Burkett is also a member of the Empire International  Chaplaincy Association.
In March of2010, Reverend Burkett received recognition from both administrators  and peers alike aboard the Spirit ofNew York where he along with fellow chaplains was recognized for his achievements.
JhJanuary ofl980, Reverend Robert R. Burkett was installed as the Pastor of the New Hope
Baptist Church of Corona, New York.  Pastor Burkett is actively in his 30th year as the Pastor ofNew Hope Baptist Church.  On October 10, 2010, he will be honored at a 30th Anniversary Black & White Affair acknowledging this milestone.
